The 2023 Volkswagen sustained significant damage, and its driver, 39-year-old Corey Knight, was declared dead at the scene.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Red Knights&#8217;s big rig was left with moderate damage to the passenger side.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Due to the severity of the crash, Virginia State Police were left with no choice but to shut down the southbound lanes along the Monitor Merrimac Memorial Bridge Tunnel. They later reopened the area.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additional information reveals that Knight had his emergency lights activated at the time of the wreck.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Commonwealth Attorney of Suffolk will be assisting police with the investigation.
