HOOVER, AL \u2013 A tractor-trailer driver hit some vehicles on I-459 South, causing the truck to overturn and strike a second big rig, resulting in at least four people sustaining minor wounds.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This<\/span> collision occurred around 3 p.m. near mile marker 16<\/span>, according to WVTM13<\/a><\/span>. The Rocky Ridge Fire Department, <\/span>who were<\/span> among the first responders, said the first truck nearly struck the second 18-wheeler head-on. While the vehicles did not collide head-on, they still made contact, which trapped one of the truck drivers<\/span>, <\/span>and caused one gas tank to catch on fire.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Fire crews <\/span>were able to successfully extricate<\/span> the entrapped driver <\/span>and hazmat workers were able to clean<\/span> up the small diesel fuel spill that <\/span>came<\/span> from one of the trucks and gone onto the road.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While first responders did not provide an update on the physical conditions of the occupants, they said that at least four people suffered minor wounds.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Authorities shut down the north and southbound lanes for an hour. Southbound lanes were reopened by 7:55 p.m. and northbound ones by 8:30 p.m.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
