{"id":4118,"date":"2024-07-02T13:29:49","date_gmt":"2024-07-02T18:29:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/truckaccidentlawyers.com\/news\/?p=4118"},"modified":"2024-07-03T13:18:24","modified_gmt":"2024-07-03T18:18:24","slug":"4-killed-in-chain-reaction-crash-with-semi-in-indian-river-co","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/truckaccidentlawyers.com\/news\/florida-truck-accidents\/4-killed-in-chain-reaction-crash-with-semi-in-indian-river-co\/","title":{"rendered":"4 killed in chain-reaction crash with semi in Indian River Co.\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FL \u2013 A driver of a Toyota Camry struck the back of a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Suzuki Vitara, leading to a chain-reaction crash with a semi that killed four people.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This multi-vehicle collision happened around 2:15 a.m. on I-95 North on at marker 153 Monday. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wqcs.org\/wqcs-news\/2024-07-01\/at-least-1-dead-in-multi-vehicle-crash-on-i-95-in-indian-river-county-all-northbound-lanes-shut-down\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WQCS<\/a> said that after those mentioned vehicles made contact, a driver of a 2012 gray Dodge Journey also struck the 2001 green Suzuki Vitara.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After that initial crash, the driver of the 2009 blue Toyota Camry and the Vitara driver both got out of their vehicles to try to help the Dodge occupants. As they walked over, they were then struck by a 2006 black Freightliner Semi truck.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Following this wreck, a fifth vehicle, a 2022 gray Chrysler Pacifica, then tried to swerve to avoid hitting all those disabled vehicles but, instead, hit the back side of the Toyota Camry.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that the semi-truck driver, a 63-year-old Hispanic man, was unharmed, while the Toyota driver, a 37-year-old black woman from Miami, and the Suzuki motorist, a 40-year-old black man from Miami, both suffered fatal wounds.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Two occupants from the Dodge, a 7-year-old black boy from Palm Bay (a passenger) and the driver, a 40-year-old black woman also from Palm Bay, died at the scene. All the other passengers from Palm Bay and black were taken to area hospitals.
