After the vehicles collided, gas had supposedly spilled. Authorities did not confirm if it made its way into the nearby Neuse River and posed an environmental threat.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The driver of the gasoline truck, identified as Scott Thomas Painter from Wendell, was pronounced dead at the scene. North Carolina State Highway Patrol, said the trash truck driver, who was identified as 41-year-old Victor Eldred Adrain Sumner, had tried to flee from the scene, by attempting to escape through the woods.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sumner, however, was caught and then taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
