{"id":3348,"date":"2024-05-06T11:36:01","date_gmt":"2024-05-06T16:36:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/truckaccidentlawyers.com\/news\/?p=3348"},"modified":"2024-05-06T11:36:01","modified_gmt":"2024-05-06T16:36:01","slug":"scdot-closes-u-s-123-after-westminster-tractor-trailer-rollover-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/truckaccidentlawyers.com\/news\/south-carolina-truck-accidents\/scdot-closes-u-s-123-after-westminster-tractor-trailer-rollover-crash\/","title":{"rendered":"SCDOT closes U.S. 123 after Westminster tractor-trailer rollover crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WESTMINSTER, SC \u2013 The South Carolina Department of Transportation shut down U.S. 123 between Cleveland Pike and Hopewell Church Roads after a tractor-trailer rolled over Monday.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This collision happened before 9 a.m. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxcarolina.com\/2024\/05\/06\/tractor-trailer-carrying-chickens-crashes-shuts-down-upstate-highway\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox Carolina<\/a> said the driver was spared from harm, while numerous chickens inside the truck died as a result.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oconee County Sheriff\u2019s Office, who also responded to the scene, has asked travelers to avoid this area for the investigation and scene clearance process.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During this temporary closure, drivers can still use <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Toccoa Highway going to River Road, Jarrett Bridge Road to North Horseshoe Bridge Road, and Highway 76 extending back to Highway 123 as alternative routes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SCDOT crews have not announced a time estimate as to when the scene will clear and when all lanes will reopen.
