DUVAL COUNTY, FL — A 24-year-old woman has been arrested and charged following a multi-vehicle crash Monday in west Jacksonville that claimed the life of a 42-year-old man, reports News4Jax<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The fatal incident unfolded on the northbound lanes of Interstate 295 at the ramp to I-10.<\/p>\n

An early investigation by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office indicates the suspect Kaylyn Lowdenslager, was operating a black Nissan Altima on a suspended license when she lost control of the vehicle. Shortly after, the Nissan struck a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that was stopped behind a big rig on the side of the highway exit ramp.<\/p>\n

The driver of the pickup, who was outside of his vehicle and working with another man to repair a tire on the tractor-trailer, was hit by the pickup and was left pinned against the big rig. First responders pronounced him deceased at the scene.<\/p>\n

Authorities said Lowdenslager ran from the scene but was later located and arrested. She has since been charged with “leaving the scene of a deadly crash, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, driving with a suspended license, and three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to use.”<\/p>\n

Lowdenslager may face additional charges depending on results to a blood analysis, which was pending at the time of News4Jax’s report.<\/p>\n
