TALLADEGA COUNTY, AL — Two people lost their lives Tuesday evening after a pair of crashes on U.S. Highway 280 West in Childersburg, reports ABC3340 News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The events unfolded on U.S. Highway 280, at the intersections with Flag Pole Mountain Road and Wood Road.<\/p>\n

Authorities said that at about 6:00 p.m., two vehicles were involved in one crash that resulted in two people being transported to UAB Hospital by medical helicopter. A third patient was taken by ambulance to Coosa Valley Medical Center, and a fourth victim succumbed to their injuries at the scene.<\/p>\n

Nearly an hour later, an SUV rear-ended a log truck. First responders pronounced one person from the SUV deceased at the scene.<\/p>\n

The incidents forced part of the highway to remain closed for over two hours, but at 8:40 p.m., the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency announced the reopening of all travel lanes.<\/p>\n
