TAMPA, FL — A man in his late sixties was killed Monday afternoon when a USPS truck he was driving was struck by a car at a northeast Tampa intersection, reports FOX 13 Tampa Bay<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The incident took place at North River Cover Street and North Mulberry Street, in the Sulphur Springs neighborhood, just before 3:00 p.m.<\/p>\n

According to the Tampa Police Department, the victim, a postal carrier, was working his usual route when a dark-colored Mercedes sedan collided with his USPS truck, causing the truck to roll over.<\/p>\n

First responders pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. His identity has not yet been disclosed.<\/p>\n

The Mercedes, which fled the scene before authorities arrived, was later found nearly a mile away, on North 16th Street, covered by a tarp but bearing damage consistent with the collision.<\/p>\n

An investigation remains underway as detectives work to identify the suspect. Anyone with information is urged to contact TPD investigators at 813-213-6130.<\/p>\n
