As both vehicles began slowing down due to congestion ahead, a semi-truck with an empty trailer was approaching from behind in the right southbound lane.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities said the driver of the unloaded semi-trailer, a 55-year-old man, did not slow down in time, causing the semi&#8217;s front collided with the rear of the Chevy Malibu.
